Preventative Care

Our goal is to motivate and teach children how to care for their teeth so that they last a lifetime. It’s a joint effort between us, your child, and you to establish healthy oral habits – we are a team! A check-up appointment every six months helps ensure your child’s teeth are growing correctly with no underlying problems. Cleanings, fluoride treatment, sealants, and when necessary, preventive resin restorations (PRRs) are measures taken before a full-blown cavity is present.

If your child’s tooth has a cavity or has experienced an injury, it is vital to seek treatment, even on a baby tooth. Baby teeth help encourage healthy oral development and the proper eruption of your child’s permanent teeth. Sedation Services

Sedation helps ensure that pediatric dental visits provide young patients with a comfortable experience and effective results. Often, children are intimidated by dental visits or otherwise unable to sit still during exams and treatments for an extended time. Sedation helps minimize anxiety and relax children during dental visits. We have options for general/IV sedation and oral sedation - all under the safe supervision of a pediatric dentist.

Tongue & Lip Ties

Tongue-ties are also called ankyloglossia and known as a condition that restricts the tongues range of motion. The condition is present at birth. A short, tight band of tissue tethers the tongue's tip to the floor of the mouth. It can affect how a child eats, sleeps, and can interfere with breastfeeding. DO'S and dont's

Helpful tips to make your first dental visit fun

DO'S

Tell your child that they are going to the pediatric dentist to get their teeth counted, probably take some photos (x-rays), and clean their teeth with a very special toothbrush!

If you don't know the answer to your child's questions, respond with "I don't know, let's ask Dr. Duff when we get there!"

DONT'S

Please refrain from discussing any negative dental experiences or dental anxiety you may have in order to ensure a positive experience for your child.

Sometimes, in trying to prepare your child for your appointment with us, you may use a scary word when describing what to expect. Let’s avoid using words such as needle, shot, pinch, injection, pull, and pain.
